Setting Up Our Alternative Bedroom Dresser From Ikea

bedroom dresserIn my last post I shared our shopping list for a bedroom dresser from IKEA for under $300. This weekend we set up the dresser with some help from our dog, RJ.

I didn’t take many pictures of the setup, mainly because SOMEONE (cough…Udo the long suffering boyfriend…cough) felt I was spending too much time fiddling with the camera while he did all the work. I am still trying to get the hang of my DSLR camera so sue me!

Either way we managed to put together the Expedit shelves and Branas inserts with nary an issue. Remember, we have done this before and are old hats at IKEA assembly.

RJ insists on being involved in every bit of the process even though he is more of a hindrance.

Here’s what the “dresser” looks like with only the Branas baskets.

Paused work to take this picture. The empty space is for the Expedit 2-drawer inserts.

And…drumroll please…here is the finished product. An “alternative” bedroom dresser from IKEA for under $300. I like it.

I still need to figure out what to do with the wall above the dresser.

Stay tuned for my next post on how I got a new desk for my home office space for under $50!

Hi! I googled “alternatives to dressers” and stumbled on your site. Love how it looks, how is it holding up after a year of use?

It has held up great! Even through a particularly aggravating move to a new apartment. We actually sold one of the Expedit’s (space issues in the new apartment) and now use just one as a low tv stand (we still have the baskets though). They are great multi functional pieces.
